New Science Centre Opening Date Announced

""We are delighted to announce that the public opening of the New Science Centre will take place on Saturday, October 29, 2011 at 220 St. Georges Drive NE, Calgary, Alberta at 10:00 a.m.
“The announcement of the opening of the New Science Centre is a moment of celebration for all Southern Albertans, and we are deeply grateful to all of the dedicated supporters and contributors to this momentous undertaking,” said Jennifer Martin, President & CEO, TELUS World of Science –Calgary.
“The New Science Centre experience is designed to encourage visitors of all ages to explore new ideas, build, experiment, create and play. It will be an inspiring place to discuss, debate and unravel the complexities of the issues of the day, and a place where art, science, music and technology intersect in weird and wonderful ways,” said Julie Bowen, Vice President of Content, TELUS World of Science –Calgary. “This will definitely be a place to spark your curiosity and discover your inner scientist, engineer or artist.”
With commitment from the three levels of government, a number of corporate partnerships and contributions from countless local individuals, the $160 million, 153,000 square-foot facility is constructed on over 18-acres of reclaimed land and will achieve Leadership in Engineering and Environment Design (LEED) Gold Certification.""
