Science, technology, engineering internship funding opportunity extended!
Dollars available to support internships up to 52 weeks!
(Ottawa, Ontario) – It’s back and it’s better than ever! The Canadian Association of Science Centres (CASC) Science Interns Outreach Program* has been extended! You now have until December 1, 2010 to apply for science, technology or engineering internship funding support that may extend as long as 52 weeks. The internships must begin no later than January 10, 2011. This program provides an opportunity to recent diploma or university graduates to gain meaningful work experience within their field of studies, while you get a chance to gain exposure to bright young talent.
Here’s how the program works: Any non-profit, for-profit or non-federal government organization can participate. It’s easy to apply and the response time is on average less than two weeks from time of application submission. In return, you can receive 50% of an intern’s salary (up to a maximum of $1,100 per month) between now and March 31, 2011. If you’d like to extend the internship for a longer period (up to 52 weeks in total), simply sign a second agreement after March 31, 2011. The deadline for initial applications is December 1, 2010.
The goal of the CASC Science Interns Outreach Project is simple: allow recent science, technology and engineering graduates to acquire relevant work experience and professional skills that, in turn, contribute to a stronger, more experienced and more innovative natural sciences sector. The internship offers another benefit to employers. You’ll have the opportunity to work with highly qualified young talent without a long term commitment – unless you decide you want one.
