Telephone Historical Centre uses QR codes in exhibits

 

One of CASC’s smallest organisational members, the Telephone Historical Centre, a hands-on telephone museum located in Edmonton, Alberta, has recently introduced QR (or quick response) codes into its exhibits. The two-dimensional bar codes allow for a variety of information, including websites, pictures, and text, to be encoded and then read using an application on a smart phone. By scanning one of the codes set around the museum, visitors can learn new information about the artefacts and exhibits as it is displayed on their phone. Visitors can learn about Alexander Graham Bell’s first telephone; the strange cases encountered by former Edmonton operators; and, the first automatic dialling equipment in Edmonton.  Bravo Telephone Historical centre for moving forward with technology and keeping your visitors engaged!
