    The Margaret Ziedler Star Theatre is about to become one of the best of its kind in the world.

    The theatre in Edmonton's Telus World of Science plans to replace its aging projectors and screen with the latest state-of-the-art 10K technology.

    It's all part of a $40-million expansion project officially unveiled Tuesday by science centre president and CEO Alan Nursall. Read more

    Model train fans will be going loco over a new exhibit Science Timmins is unveiling after Labour Day weekend.

    It’s a working electric train and miniature village.

    “We have volunteers who have been working on this for the past year,” explained Lorraine Cantin, chairwoman of the Science Timmins board. “The tracks and the trains were donated by Joe Ferrari who was a local school principal.

    The Saskatchewan Science Centre presented its Go! Science show at the Assiniboia and District Public Library on August 10. Go! Science is the Saskatchewan Science Centre’s interactive outreach program that travels all over the province throughout the year. The show was a huge hit with about 70 people present including children as well as adults. The Canada150-themed presentation had three separate projects for the participants. Read more

    Lineups went around the building for the special eclipse viewing glasses that allow people to safely stare at the sun without damaging their retinas.

    The awardee will be an individual early in their career who has demonstrated outstanding contributions to science, technology, mathematics, medicine, or engineering. Contributions can take one or more of many forms, including research, teaching, entrepreneurship, communications, and innovation.  The award recipient will be recognized at TELUS World of Science - Edmonton's annual LUMEN event, given a monetary award, provided a professional development scholarship, and will participate in several TELUS World of Science - Edmonton events during the year.  Read more
