Explore COVE & McNab's Island

Board a boat on the Halifax waterfront and travel to nearby COVE (Centre for Ocean Ventures & Entrepreneurship) to tour the facility which brings together people, ideas, industry, and research to help the community and its members to work in new ways to create practical, commercial, and revolutionary ocean tech advances.

Next, travel to nearby McNab’s Island, a provincial park about 5 km long and 1.5 km wide, comprising 1000 acres of historical and natural features, and recreational and educational opportunities. On arrival, the Friends of McNab’s Island Society will lead you on a walking tour.  You’ll learn about the important role the island has played over time, from being a Mi'kmaq First Nations encampment to a French fishing station, and eventually a military fortification to protect the Port of Halifax.

From ripples to waves: The growing impact of outreach

Dive into outreach by experiencing programs in a real scenario. Join the TELUS World of Science Edmonton, the Discovery Centre, Science World British Columbia and Science North to explore their different outreach programs. At a school in the area, get a view of how each team operates and delivers their programs. Take part in a great outreach networking opportunity as well as a chance to explore different approaches to outreach.
