Nominations are now open for the 2017 Weston Youth Innovation Award. Science North will be launching their brand new attraction, an escape from CortX Labs, on Jan. 20.
The escape room's theme is that you are a volunteer for a simple research experiment on your brain's ability to problem-solve.

Todd Mintz said the title of his latest exhibit — Endurance — is a play on words.
Every day is a test of endurance for wildlife and every day is either life or death, Mintz said. Endurance is also something Mintz had to practice to get the shots that he did, exploring climates such as the Arctic tundra and hot deserts.
"I go from hypothermic to heat exhaustion in this show," Mintz said. "I've dove under the Arctic ice, under icebergs." Read more
Five experimental beehives are buried under a foot of snow near the top of Science North. There are no familiar sounds of buzzing, but the data these bugs are gathering might help other hives survive future northern Ontario winters. Read more
Just a few days are left to see Themuseum's quantum exhibit before it packs up to tour the country.
Quantum: The Exhibition is at the downtown Kitchener museum until Jan. 1.
"It's a really cool exhibit," said David Marskell, Themuseum's chief executive officer.
"It allows people to take a peek into the future."
The exhibit was a collaboration between Themuseum and the Institute for Quantum Computing at the University of Waterloo.
It was picked for the federal government's Innovation150, which celebrates 150 years of innovation in Canada as part of the sesquicentennial events. Ottawa provided funding to develop and tour the exhibit. Read more
Celebrate Canada's sesquicentennial at the Ontario Science Centre with Canada 150: Discovery Way, a new installation that recounts the rich stories behind Canadian discoveries and innovations, and with The Energy Show, a new stage presentation that takes the Centre's iconic Electricity Demonstration to a shocking new level. To start its Canada 150 celebrations, the Ontario Science Centre is offering free general admission to the first 150 kids (ages 3-12) on January 1, 2017. Read more
The Lloydminster Cultural and Science Centre (LCSC) will be the host of a travelling exhibit for the next couple of months.
Canada: Day 1, will be in the Border City from Dec. 17 until March 25, 2017. The exhibit is on loan from the Canadian Museum of Immigration at Pier 21 in Halifax, and has been travelling throughout Canada since 2013. Read more
